According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery statistics, in 2012, over 3,500 vaginal rejuvenation procedures were performed in the United States, which is an increase of 64% from 2011.
Google keyword searches show that women often search for: “tighten a loose vagina”, “kegel exercises”, “exercises to tighten vagina”, and “how to keep it tight down there”. This shows that women have concerns with the vaginal area and the changes that can occur with pregnancy, childbirth, and aging.
Due to the increasing demand for vaginal and feminine rejuvenation, Jandali Plastic Surgery now offers ThermiVa treatments for women in Connecticut. ThermiVa is an in-office, non-surgical procedure for labia and vaginal tightening. A soft applicator delivers heat energy to the labia and/or vaginal tissues in order to tighten them, build collagen, and restore youthfulness.
Candidates for ThermiVa Vaginal Rejuvenation
Candidates for ThermiVa include women that are concerned with the wrinkled or loose appearance of their labia majora/minora, feelings of a loose vagina, vaginal dryness, or orgasmic concerns. For women with feelings of a loose or lax vagina, Kegel exercises have often been tried with no improvement or vaginal tightening. Studies show that ThermiVa treatments can improve vaginal laxity, vaginal dryness, mild urinary leakage and urgency, and even orgasmic dysfunction.

How Does ThermiVa Work?
The ThermiVa applicator causes heatingof the skin and mucosa to a therapeutic temperature. Each treatment takes about 3-5 minutes per zone once the goal temperature is reached. The gentle heat causes immediate contraction of the collagen in the area. Over the next few weeks to months, there is collagen remodeling and stimulation of new collagen and elastin, which causes tightening of the skin of the labia and the inside of the vagina.
Advantages of ThermiVa to Surgery
- No pain due to the gradual and gentle warming with the applicator
- Non-surgical – no needles, injections, or scars
- No downtime – can resume sexual activity on the same day
- Can be performed 6 weeks after childbirth and between pregnancies
Is ThermiVa Safe?
Yes, the applicator is single use and disposable to avoid any contamination. In addition, it is specifically designed for the labia and vaginal canal with a gentle S-shaped curve. The applicator has a temperature safety control so that the goal temperature can never be exceeded. In addition, there have never been any reported burns from the treatment.
What is the Recovery after ThermiVa Treatments?
- No Downtime/Recovery
- No delay in sexual activity
- No discharge or odor
Who Performs the ThermiVa Procedures?
All patients are assessed by Dr. Jandali and our Registered Nurse Ariella, who are both ThermiVa certified. Ariella then performs the short 30-45 min office procedure. We recommend a series of 3 treatments one month apart. The results last for about one year and then yearly maintenance treatments can be performed to off-set continued aging in the area.
