Overactive muscle contractions in the face can cause frown lines over time. Frown lines even form from regular muscles that are just repetitively used over decades for smiling, frowning, squinting, or chewing. These frown lines include wrinkles across the forehead, wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabellar), and wrinkles in the outer eye area (crow's feet). Botox® and Dysport® are injections of purified protein that are approved by the FDA for treatment of frown lines.
