Description

This is a 50 year old female from Westport, Connecticut, who had a right breast biopsy which showed ADH, or atypical ductal hyperplasia. Her breast surgeon needed to perform a full excision in order to ensure that there was no cancer present. Given the relatively small size of her breasts, taking out such an area could have led to an indentation in her breast. Therefore, at the time of surgery, she underwent oncoplastic reconstruction of the lumpectomy defect. Her own breast tissue on the right side was rotated to fill in the defect from the lumpectomy. She has a small scar that has faded nicely, but most importantly, she has no indentation or tethering of her nipple.
