DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction: Case 10 This is a 55 year old female who had previously undergone bilateral mastectomies for breast cancer. She had reconstruction performed by another plastic surgeon with tissue expanders and then implants. She was not happy with her reconstruction including the overall shape of her breasts, intermittent pain, and the unnatural feel of the implants.
She underwent removal of both of the breast implants and replacement with DIEP flaps. She was the perfect candidate and had the right amount of tissue in her lower abdomen to reconstruct both breasts. She subsequently underwent nipple reconstruction and she is scheduled to undergo tattooing.
