The final stage of breast reconstruction is the creation of new nipples and tattooing of the areola. The nipple reconstruction can be performed in the office procedure room under local anesthesia.  It can also be performed in the operating room at the same time as a minor breast revision. 

Areola Tattooing Connecticut

After the nipple reconstruction has healed for about 2-3 months, the areola can then be tattooed.  If just one areola needs tattooing, the color is matched to the other natural areola that is still in place.  If bilateral mastectomies were performed, then the areola color is decided with the patient and depends on the color and hue of their skin.  Our professional licensed tattoo artist and nurse Jasmine Goulette performs all areolar tattooing in the safety and comfort of our office procedure room.
