Surgery to Remove Extra Nipples

Extra nipples, known as polythelia, are not uncommon. They have an incidence of 0.2- 2.5% and are bilateral (both sides) in about 50% of patients. They are most commonly underneath the breast, but can be located anywhere on a line between the armpit and the groin. These can be removed surgically and usually leave a short straight-line scar with the best cosmetic result.  This is often performed in the office procedure room under local anesthesia.
